The first use of Hematite has been traced back to Ancient Rome where warriors would often decorate their weapons with the crystal. This was because the dark red colour was believed to be intimidating however, what the Romans did not realize was that the stones on their weapons had strong protective qualities that would aid them in battle. Hematite does not only protect one from physical harm but also from emotional or spiritual harm. This gem is ideal for those who meditate, as placing a gem in each hand while meditating intensifies the balancing and grounding abilities of the crystal. Hematite pairs wonderfully with Topaz, despite them having opposite elements this is a benefit for Hematite as it is centralized around finding balance.
